Once upon a time, on a little island called Taiwan, a baby girl named Jackie was born. When she was still small, her family moved to Singapore — a bright, busy country full of colors, lights, and people from all over the world.
Jackie was a curious little girl. She didn’t just play with her toys — she wanted to know how they worked! “Why is the sky blue?” “How does a plant grow?” “Can science help people feel better?” She asked questions all the time. So many, in fact, that her teachers would laugh and say, “Jackie never stops wondering!”
As she grew up, Jackie fell in love with science. She dreamed of helping people by discovering new things. She worked hard, studied day and night, and went all the way to the United States to learn more — even at a famous school called MIT!
There, she studied something called nanotechnology. It’s the science of super-tiny things — so small that even a strand of hair looks HUGE next to them! Jackie learned how these tiny things could be used to make new medicines and help sick people heal faster. But while Jackie was looking through her microscope… She also started looking deeper inside her heart. She began to think: “Everything in the world is so beautifully made… But who made it?” “How does everything fit together so perfectly?”

She started reading about different beliefs. And when she opened the Qur’an, she found verses that made her stop and smile. Like this one: “In the creation of the heavens and the earth are signs for people who think.” (Surah Al-Imran, 3:190) Jackie felt something warm and peaceful.
She read about how Islam loves learning. She learned how the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to make this beautiful prayer: “O Allah, help me benefit from what You’ve taught me, and teach me what will benefit me.” That’s when Jackie knew — she had found her answer.
She became a Muslim. Now Jackie had two superpowers: Science… and faith. She kept working in her lab, discovering ways to help people. She won big awards and made amazing breakthroughs — but always with a kind heart and a quiet prayer. Today, Professor Jackie Ying is one of the most respected scientists in the world. But what makes her shine the most… is her love for learning and her love for Allah.

She tells children: “Be curious. Learn all you can. Use what you know to help others. And always believe — because science and faith belong together.” And so, whenever you look at something tiny — like a grain of sand or a drop of water — remember Jackie. The little girl who asked big questions… And found beautiful answers.
